My First Sprint Tri Report.

If you are reading my blog, first I want to apologize for not updating it for that last 2 months and 7 days. I had other things go with my life and completely forgot about it.

First, I completed the my first Sprint Distance on August  15th. It was an amazing experience and it taught me a lot. My time was 1:14:50. Lets start from the beginning; I arrived at 5:30 am to Key Biscayne, not that many competitors had arrived at that time, so I was in and out of body marking and picking up the chip in 5 minutes. 10 minutes later I had my transition area set up, nice free time to relax and enjoy the sunrise with my wife.

7:20 AM It was time for my age group to start swimming (.25 miles / 400 meters). I was a straight shot you the swim exit, not turns. 0:07:06 and I was out of the water. I had to stop twice to get water of my goggles. I felt my arms on fire and when I was able to step on the ground I walked until out of the water and into T1.

During T1 I tried to do it as fast as possible but without for missing anything. I do not have cycling shoes so on went my running shoes helmet and off I went.

The cycling leg seemed to be very easy and I pushed harder than I should trying to recuperate some time lost on the swim. I was passing aero bikes like if they were standing. I ride a 198* steel Cannondale, that is small for me and property of my sister. 10 miles and 0:29:56 minutes later I was done and into T2.

T2 was a breeze I just had to hang the bike, take off my helmet, grab some water and my shirt.

Started the run very strong but about .25 miles my legs gave up. I guess all the effort on the bike trying to get some time back started to hurt my run. So I walked/jogged the remainder of the first mile. From mile 2 to the end I started jogging/running. Ended up doing the 3.1 miles (5K) in 0:33:03 when I am able to run 23s during training.

Felt a little disappointed on my self for burning all my strength during the bike and not having a planned a little better, but very very happy about successfully completing a triathlon.
